prince signed to play glastonbury according to virtualfestivals! On http://www.virtualfestivals.co.uk it says prince is definitely signed up to close the show on the last day of the Glastonbury festival in the UK. They havent even put him in the rumours section, they put him in the definites so maybe its true after all?

I really hope this is true. The website does appear to confirm it BUT he CAN pull out.
It will be interesting to see: a) If he adjusts his set list to 'entertain' non/casual-fans b) How well he will go down generally with a mixed crowd (fans and non fans etc) 'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

Elsewhere on the Virtual Festivals website though it says...
"Prince is rumoured to fill the 'veteran' slot on the Sunday night (last year occupied by Rod Stewart). Oh, that's if the Rolling Stones don't want to get their Gucci shoes muddy." So looks to still be a rumour. And if Glasto are talking to him in terms of it being a "veteran" slot then I think a rumour is all it will remain...

Don't get your knickers in a twist. If you look at the key at the bottom of the page, they've given Prince 3 spots, which means it's only a rumour.

Glastonbury licence in the balance
Organisers want a licence for 150,000 people The licence application for the 2003 Glastonbury Festival is to be considered on Monday evening. (17TH FEB Mendip District Council at Shepton Mallet is considering a revised application for a licence for the event. It was submitted by the company Mean Fiddler before Christmas and for the past week has been subject to a period of public consultation. Permission for the festival was refused by the council in December because of concerns about an increase in crime, despite the fact there were no objections from the police.

Glastonbury is broadcast on TV, so standby for a pro-shot Prince concert if this comes off.
I'll be checking on the small screen because "Glasto" ain't my thing, Prince or no.

Anyone been to Glasto before? Would love to go to see him but 100 pounds is too much! Is the TV coverage of the festival any good? Will they show the whole performance? If so, I'm staying at home!

shockadelica - yup, been 10 times!! It's fantastic. Yes, the TV converage is good, but NOTHING like being there!!
£100 too much??!!! Ok, one Prince concert at Hammersmith Appollo, 3.5 hours - £50. Glastonbury, over 1000 acts to choose from (you'll probably see around 20), 72-hours non-stop, £100 all-in - I'd say that's fantastic value (esp. if Prince plays!!!) You should try going - it is the best music festival in the world today. ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...
