Arto Lindsay talks about Prince just pickt up the winter 2000 issue of the magazine BOMB. it has a cover story/interview with Arto Lindsay where he talks about . 2 bring those up 2 speed who who r not familiar w/ Arto, he did an intriguing cover version of "Erotic City" on his 1997 album "Mundo Civilzado". so many attempted covers of P's jamz suck, but this is a really cool take on 1. "Prize" is Arto's new disc on Ani Difranco's label.
the text pertaining 2 ....
BOMB- You take your cover of "Erotic City" to a diferent level of explicitness, "We can fuck until the dawn" Arto- Right. Prince never says fuck, he says "funk, unnh". He's just so coy. And the stories about Prince are unbelievable, the stories about the girls that got picked up by Prince. The guy is a poet, he needs that level of abstraction to get his rocks off. he needs for these girls to be teenage virgin whore looking. He's a wild guy. BOMB- Are you teasing the teaser, putting that word in his mouth? Arto- Yeah. I don't think he ever heard that, but now that he just did that stuff with Ani Difranco and i'm on her label, Rightous Babe, maybe eventually he'll hear some of my stuff. i'm so far below those peoples radar. i hope he does hear Arto, his music is beautiful-experimental and a collaboration between the 2 would be unworldly- throw Ani in the mix and we're talkng a whole new plateau of audio excursions. | |
