Total Request Live or TRL on MTV has been playing "Come On" as background music at different times during the show for the past few weeks, yesterday they played it before the Jordan Knight Video while asking, "which artist on the countdown has a song on their cd by the Artist Formerly Known as Prince?" Our friend has a lot of supports on MTV's staff, not just Ananda but as well as Serena, John Norris, Dave Holmes, as well as Carson Daly. I talked to Carson at a Tower Records in L.A. bout 2 months ago where I was busting, "Hide The Bone". He says "he is so talented but for the songs we really want to hear, he does not make videos we can play". There is only two people on MTV who have a problem with our friend and that is The program director Susan something and Kurt Loder. When Kurt Loder use to work for Rolling Stone, he thought Prince's use of not doing interveiws was great, but when he started working for MTV and was constantly turned down to interview Prince in 1991, the battle was on. And by the way, the reason MTV even reported the news about the marriage is because they are trying to spark interest in him. Do not put down MTV! they have tried to work with him before but has constantly slammed MTV since going on his own in 1993...basically if he does 1 interview with MTV, not a press confrence invite, as in 97, he will get major play on MTV, it is not that hard but remember, that means most likely he will not do it....grrr
