VH1's Where Are They Now? features the Time

Hello. I just checked out VH1's "Where Are they Now" show which aired today(3/29/00) at 2pm eastern time. The show did a feature on Morris Day and the Time. Of course whenever The Time is mentioned so is Prince. Morris talked about the Grand Central days(the band they formed in high school) Morris said Prince was on lead guitar, Andre Cymone was on bass guitar and He(Morris) was on drums. All of this is fairly common Prince knowledge of course. During the feature Video spots of Prince were flashed. Of course, they talked of the Purple Rain movie and how it gave Morris and The Time noteriety they didn't have prior to the film. Morris told of how they stopped the car on a Los Angles Freeway and danced and partied the first time they heard "Get it Up" played on the radio! The narrator talked about the formation of The time and how Prince was the Times' producer, manager, mentor and sometimes boss. The narrator mentioned how Prince fired Jimmy jam and Terry Lewis in 1983; again no big secrets or anything. What I did find intriguing though was a picure of Morris and Prince together in the Grand Central days. The were seated around a table with a few other people. I found it striking how similar Prince and Morris looked back then! They actually looked so similar then that they could have passed for brothers. Prince had a natural look back then with his afro and no makeup of course. The feature delved into what Morris is doing now, touring occasionally with The Time etc. Overall it was a nice piece. Check it out if you have a chance. Orion
