The Artist Says No To 'Prince' Record

(3/15/00, 1 p.m. ET) - For the Artist formerly known as Prince, having to deal with questions about his name and his former persona have become a way of life. However, that doesn't mean he is totally cool when the subject comes up. In a recent post on his new web site (www.npgonlineltd.com), the "Prince" issue reared its head, and the Artist quickly shot it down.

The post reads, "Dallas Austin recently asked the Artist 2 allow him 2 produce a 'Prince record'...with the Artist...This would b a step backward 4 the Artist, as he already made several Prince records. " There's no word on what exactly Austin had in mind, but he's well known for his work with TLC, Monica, Boyz II Men, Madonna, Michael Jackson, D.J. Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, and Aretha Franklin, among others.
