John Blackwell & Sheila E. Appearances at 2003 Winter NAMM Show!

Prince associates will be at the Winter NAMM Trade Show this weekend.

For those unfamiliar with the NAMM show, it's a huge music retail industry trade show held every year in January at the Anaheim Convention Center in Souther California. NAMM stands for National Association of Music Merchants.

More info at http://www.namm.com/about and http://www.namm.com

John Blackwell will be signing autographs at the Tama Drums booth on Friday at 12 noon, Saturday at 1pm and Sunday at 2pm.

Sheila E. will be at the Paiste Cymbals booth on Friday at 3pm and perhaps at the Remo booth as well, but that is just speculation based on past signings at Remo.

Sheila E. was also spotted hanging out after the trade show at the Hilton adjacent to the Anaheim Convention Center Thursday night.

John was spotted also hanging out at various drum manufacturer booths tinkering with the drums on Thursday.

Unfortunately, attendance at NAMM trade shows is restricted to companies who make, buy, and/or sell musical instruments and products. In other words it's not open to the general public. So if you know anyone in such a company and you're near Orange County, gets to dialing!

I go every year because of a relative working for a major music instruments manufacturer.

I've reported on past NAMMs so just do a search on "NAMM" at the Org and it should bring up some past stories.

Prince associates spotted in past NAMM Trade Shows - Wendy and Susannah Melvoin, Andre Cymone, Paul Peterson, of course Sheila E. and John Blackwell, George Clinton, Habibi(!), bass player Rhonda, Kat Dyson, etc.

Those of you that can go to this...GO! The NAMM show used to be in Chicago years ago and I had the fun of attending once. You meet a lot of incredible musicians there. The nice thing is that they're not surrounded by fans so most of them are totally at ease and in the mood to talk.

I met Buddy Guy, Slash, Eddie Van Halen, and Steve Vai all in one day. All were very nice...Slash was drunk out of his mind but a nice guy regardless.

If anyone goes...please report it here.
