More from D'Angelo interview at cdnow.com (Prince mention) In Part 2 of the CDNow D'Angelo interview, he mentions Prince:
Q: When Marvin Gaye released What's Going On, people were initially afraid to have him release that album. They thought it was too charged, too deep. But it came out and really changed not only music but people. Do you think somebody could come out and do that type of record now? A: I don't know, man. Nowadays somebody would have to come out and really not give a fuck about anything [in order] to shock people. You can't shock nobody now. There's too much shit, too much noise. The first time I heard [Prince's] Dirty Mind, I was shocked. I listen to that now, and it's like listening to some nursery rhyme shit. It was raw to think about it when it came out, because there was nothing like it. The whole interview is at: http://www.cdnow.com/cgi-...fid=192832 | |
