BMG and Universal Warring Over Prince Songs
Who will get the money from songs made by His Royal Badness of Purple Madness? We hear that there's a bidding war going on for the international publishing rights for the artist we still call Prince's song catalog. His catalog was administered for years by Warner/Chappell and includes classic stuff like, "Little Red Corvette" and "1999." The bidding is between BMG and Universal Music and whichever company cops the Prince stuff will get somewhere around 800 of his songs. Now that's a lot of jams.
