Prince mention in new film...

I just heard that there are several jokes made at Prince's expense in a new film now running in limited release called "Now & Then." It was written by Jeff Anderson (Randall from Clerks) & he also stars in it. Director Kevin Smith makes a cameo.

The Prince jokes come when two characters are discussing Prince in a car when one character, who later proves himself quite the imbecile when the story progresses, said out of nowhere something about how cool Prince really is. Comparing Prince to Michael Jackson, Jeff Anderson's character comments that the only reason Prince doesn't molest little boys is because he's too small to hold them down. The other guy goes onto say that Prince could kick Michael Jackson's ass, & points out all those kicks Prince does onstage. So Anderson's character replies that the Rockettes can kick onstage too, but it doesn't make them black belts. There are a few more knocks...go see the movie.

Sounds like a bunch of uncreative pop culture references that are more unfunny than offensive. Kevin Smith at least does mildly interesting pop culture references in his films (plus he's an admitted big Prince fan of course).

someone suggests " go see the movie", well don't you think that would be totally against a prince lover? i mean you would be making $$$ for a true hater. just let the haters be, and let's not make them $$$ .

Then, someone might want to tell the film's publicists, writers & actors:

Actually, as far as your concerned, I'd suggest that you lighten up considerably. Many of the people who visit here all but cream in their pants with the slightest mention of Prince in any aspect of pop culture.

It is unbelivable that people make jokes about things like that (Prince doesn't molest litle boys because he is too small to hold them down). How would they feel if someone molest their children? Would they still say that this is funny? Is that funny?

Yeah, it's funny how uptight you are. So someone made a joke about Prince. Big deal! People make jokes about OJ too - and yet other people on the planet kill their own wives.

it may not be funny, but the fact that they still consider prince important enough to reference in thier movie is actually paying homage to the man, just like every star wars reference in my movies is not always flattering, but again...sorry, i lost my train of thought...i'm just saying, who better 2 poke fun at prince/star wars than someone who truly admires both?
