UK "TGRES" single deemed chart ineligible

'The Greatest Romance Ever Sold' was finally released
officially in the UK today (Valentine's Day) (although it
has been available on import since November). The single
contains a Jason Nevins remix (very radio-friendly for the
UK) as well as a version featuring Q-Tip, along with the
regular radio edit plus the edit featuring Eve.

The single has actually been selling out at many stores. But
do we have a huge hit on our hands? Unfortunately no. I was
informed at HMV that the single was ineligible for chart
entry as it had been available for so long. However, I
believe the real reason is that it is a 4-track single. The
maximum allowable for UK entry is 3 tracks.

How could Arista have messed up this badly. The song is
getting airplay and is seems to be selling well, yet it will
not hit the charts. 'Rave...', for whatever reason, has also
not been eligible for chart entry in the UK.
