CNN on Prince and Fat Boy Slim In a possible answer to the questions "Is Rave dead?" it
seems that has already set his sights on a NEW album, with Fatboy Slim as the producer... http://my.cnn.com/jbcl/cn..._exclude=1 (FEB. 1) WENN/P - FATBOY TO PRODUCE THE ARTIST From WENN correspondent SEAN HAMILTON in London THE ARTIST has called on dance music sensation FATBOY SLIM to work on his new album in a bid to revive his flagging fortunes. Slim, aka DJ ZOE BALL's husband NORMAN COOK, has turned down production duties from MADONNA and TOM JONES but he's set to make a personal dream come true when he works with his hero later this year (00). The Artist, aka PRINCE, is desperate to recapture his former chart successes on both sides of the Atlantic and has become an avid Fatboy Slim fan. The pair plan to collaborate on a new album at The Artist's Minneapolis mecca PAISLEY PARK, where Cook will also work on his follow-up to mega-selling hit LP YOU'VE COME A LONG WAY BABY Cook, who returned to Britain from a month-long holiday in Jamaica yesterday (31JAN00), says, "I got asked to remix a track off his new album about a month ago and I said, `Yes.' I mean you don't say no to someone like that. "I'm just waiting to hear back from The Artist now. I've been on holiday and I need to check all my e-mails and faxes. I'm sure there will be something in there from him. Wow!" Meanwhile, Cook is also planning a collaboration with NOEL GALLAGHER after hearing at tonight's BRAT AWARDS (01FEB) that the OASIS star was keen to work with him. He adds, "That would be cool. He used to live around the corner from where I'm living now in St John's Wood. I'll have to get his number and give him a call. "But right now I've just started writing the next album, and I think everyone's getting bored with me, so I'm hibernating for the next six months at home writing the new one. I'm keen to work on that with Prince too." (SWH/WN/JM) Regarding my previous post about the "new" album, the article may have been referring to remixing a track off of "Rave" when it said "his new album." I read it again, and it's not clear whether the new album is "Rave" or some other project... | |
