Second report on Rave 2000 screening

I posted this as a comment on the first report, but thought it was relevant as another report.

I was at the Paisley viewing, and yes it did happen. When they initially let everyone in, there were only 8 cars, and more people gradually showed up. By the time the video started there were maybe 30 people there; by the end there were 13.

We weren't sure what source the video was coming from. It was awfully good picture and sound, almost too good to be videotape. (There was quite a bit of audio distortion at times, but that was presumably from poor in-house amplification.) So our suspicion was DVD, but it didn't have any of the menu or setup like a DVD, just a short preview screen that showed before the concert: "Rave Un2 The Year 2000. Video/DVD Edit. Reel 1. TRT: 01:53:00." So they could've had a copy made on SVHS, Hi-8, Beta, or something, but I'm not sure you can make just a test pressing of a DVD in small numbers. I think it's pretty much still a mass-market, bulk-manufacturing process. Anyway, "Reel 1" leaves hope of another reel being added when it's finished being edited. We can assume now it will be released on both VHS and DVD, and possibly with only a few more close-ups on the keyboards and the "$" inside Morris Day's jacket, etc.
