Prince/NPGMC in December Wired Magazine

Page 40 has the following:

Rock Star Manifestos That Trash The Record Labels
Fight the Power

Musicians: They're loud, rebellious, combative. And no, we're not talking about their sound. Rockers are taking to the Web (and to print) to publish manifestos on the business and technology of music. Should recordings be distributed digitally? Is file sharing destroying the industry? Who gets paid? It's like a b-school seminar crossed with a sweaty club date. Not surprisingly, the artists agree on one thing: Record companies are bloodsuckers. --Ethan Smith

4 musicians are featured, Courtney Love, Prince, Janis Ian, Moby

Prince
"A nation of thieves?"
Ax to grind: "People r noticing that something isn't quite right" at entertainment companies, which have lost "the ability 2 'break thru' cultural barriers." Meanwhile, "even economists who thought that file sharing 'should b' hurting the recording industry r now xpressing their doubts."
Last hit: "The Greatest Romance Ever Sold," 1999
Logic: Impossible 2 assess.

BLACKMF

The bad thing about this is that Greatest Romance is listed as the last hit when Prince released a masterpeice like TRC.

Filing sharing, to me is like virtual reality,
pretty soon everyone will be escaping into a cosmic
state of mind indulging in things that are not really
there in the FIRST PLACE. Filing sharing
created a means to simply take someone's art,
and TAKE it - sometimes for free. Is this a fair game?
So - Filing sharing simply should have NOT been allowed in
the FIRST PLACE to simply TAKE.

Well these files are not for people to take, these
are for an artist (if she/he wants to) to sell and for us to appreciate.

silence on a vacant desert scene as a tumbleweed drifts across ...
