Marilyn Manson and his new symbol name.In Pamela Des Barres current E!Online column (http://www.eonline.com/Reviews/Music/Scoop/index2.html) she mentions Marilyn Manson's reaction to the misunderstanding over his name. Also of interest is her statements on music stars and their website venting.



It reads:



"And, in response to folks who poked fun at his request to be referred to by the symbol for Mercury (like the Artist), Marilyn counters, 'My name is still Marilyn Manson, and I am here to stay and make each of you that fears, doubts, laughs at or hates me suffer as much as possible...I'd like to give a sincere FUCK YOU to those who criticize ANYONE who dares to do something different. I've only tried to open your minds.' He closes his little missive thusly: 'Time for a riot, MARILYN MANSON, the Third and Final Beast.' As much as I agree with Manson's sentiment, I think rock stars were much more interesting when they didn't have the Internet to use for "intervent-ing." Call me old-fashioned. Go ahead. I've only tried to open your minds."
