Chanhassen Villager on the Rave 2000 line-up fiasco Waiting to get in Fans of Prince descend on Chan's Paisley Park Prince fans stood in line on cold concrete for up to four hours Saturday night waiting for the chance to be let into his New Year's Eve party at Paisley Park. Prince, Lenny Kravitz, and other musicians were taping a show for MTV to be aired on New Year's Eve at Paisley Park. Fans had envelopes stuffed with $100 to be given to charity as the price of admission. However, they grew disappointed when security let car after car into the parking lot, but none of them. Fans thought they might be let in at 9:00pm but by 11:30pm they were still shivering outside. Some people, like Tony Deutsch, came to Minnesota from California just for the opportunity to see Prince play. "I'm a big Prince fan but I wish the doors would open at the time he said they would. It's too cold to wait out here." Another visitor from California, Jeff Sambugaro, was also angry about the wait. "He should at least provide a tarp to block the wind," he said. Lots of fans took turns standing in line while their friends warmed up in cars. Eden Prairie resident Ann Potter came by herself at 5:00pm and didn't want to lose her place in line. She did bring a blanket to wrap herself up in. "I'm getting really tired of standing out here but I'd feel kinda bad leaving after all this wait," she said. Most people dressed for the weather in long underwear, boots, hats and mittens, but a few couldn't resist wearing high heels. Lynette Abate from Texas, wore nothing but two pairs of socks on her feet and held her party shoes in her hands. | |
