Printable I suspect that people like xenophobia, Dan, & gubbinsforever would have to witness Prince anally rape their mothers with a chainsaw while grilling their favorite childhood toy on a barbecue before they thought he could ever do something wrong. Even then, they might give him the benefit of the doubt. Fact is, the vast majority of perfectly reasonable people consider 4 CDs as 4 separate albums. That's what sold me. Compare this year's output to last years - forget about the incidental benefits such as preferred seating (which not all members received) & consider only the music. Last year saw far more in terms of music & videos than the slim pickings our $100 bought us last year. Let's look at xenophobia's "brilliance:"
"1. They never said the memberships were for 12 months, they said 2002 memberships would end at the end of 2002. No mystery here." As a matter of fact, even in its most recent press releases, the club is still advertising a monthly membership option. What kind of clarity is that? Absurd! "2. Why would the people answering the club emails have a detailed plan on what Prince's releases are going to be? He doesn't even tell the musicians who recorded on them. No one knows when a CD or DVD will be released until Prince says so. Stop asking them impossible questions. They said we will get 4 CDs in 2002, that is what they have been saying from Day one. And I'm sure we will, but only Prince knows what and when. That has always been his standard operationg procedure. Why change now?" Because they are a business & they represent Prince, that's why. They have accepted our payment & have expectations to meet. Why would they say that the four club releases for the year are ONA, Xenophobia, Best of , etc? It's Prince's club & ultimately, he has to answer for everything.
"3. Considering just about every email they respond to gets posted on prince.org, WHY WOULD THEY TELL YOU ANYTHING? If people want some real info, they need to stop posting all their correspondence online. No doubt some paisley staffer has seen all this and told them to "shut their trap"" Because it's their responsibility as a business to communicate their policy, procedures & product. They cannot assume everyone visits Prince.org & should not. Many of you zealots have sworn off Prince.org for its reluctance to join the "collective" years ago. Even freakazoid fanatics need their information. "4. When CDs are released in the Club, they are exclusive. If something gets released later in stores, that doesn't take away from you got it first b4 anyone else could. Why would he record a whole album only to give to a handful of ungrateful fans? They should get it before the rest of the world, but it just makes sense to release it later on down the road to retail." Defend Prince till the day you die & he'll never know, you fanatic. Exclusivity generally lasts more than a week in most cases - except for Prince. Join Bowie's club. On joining, you get a double CD that is & will remain exclusive to members. As big a Prince fan as I may be, I think I can control myself enough to wait a week to buy the ONA live CD in stores if it meant paying $30 for it instead of $75 as a "lucky" club member. When it all comes down to it, members are receiving about 20 new minutes of music they can't get anywhere else. That's right...20 lousy minutes from the ONA demo CD that they didn't already have from last year. We're getting "first crack" on a CD that will be widely available in stores - so what? & it's very likely that many stores will have it in stock before many club members receive it. This is the last time I will buy into anything Prince is selling. Anything worthwhile he will release will be available in stores. Chances are, if I wait more than a month, it'll be in the bargain bin as well. Xenophobia, etc...come look, Prince is about to rape your mothers...buzzz

I was very disappointed when One Nite Alone arrived, half of that cd was already on the last edition of year 1, but everything was ok 'cause I thought ok let's see what's next.
Now we are at the end of the year, most of us have renewed the membership in february, just 1 cd arrived so far, and now in december we have 2 renew once again. If u remember well at the begining of our renewal they sent us an e-mail saying "in this year u will receive AT LEAST 4 new prince's cd's" They didn't tell us when or what we were going 2 receive and without thinking about that we all paid our 100$ All I wanted 2 say is: we've paid without knowing anything and now all we're doing is complain with the club, but is it the end of the year??? Let's see what will happen then let's start 2 complain or maybe not renew the club!!! It's all about u. The ppl at paisley won't tell u anything, they just comunicate with us with their e-mail when all the things are planned out. I just hope not 2 write a complaining e-mail 2 the club, all I'm gonna do right now is enjoy the european tour and just wait 2 receive...(I really hope not only ona live!!)

Dear Sheep.. why are you getting so emotionally upset about business matters ? What is he your idol or something? xenophobia said : Considering just about every email they respond to gets posted on prince.org, WHY WOULD THEY TELL YOU ANYTHING?
because a $100 customer waiting a long time and with two months left deserves some answers. heck.. most of this live music from Xenophobia is floating all over the net anyway. No big loss.

Yeah.. ok may I suggest: One Nite Alone In Buffalo is the best ever, best sound quality and good track list 4 the aftershow I suggest "extraordinary" the most...
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
All right, I too am worried about what we'll get, although I think the greatest advantage of the club is about the live shows. I don't think you should subscribe if you can't take advantage of the soundcheck-aftershow options.
ANYWAY, I'm here to say that I think the One Nite Alone cd is absolutely out of this world and one of the most relevant Prince releases ever.

Well I have been a member since day 1 and I agree that we should wait till the year ends and lets see whats in store. However like a lot of you I also have some complaints, in fact I still haven't received my ONA cd, yes thats right the first one that was sent out. I have repeatedly mailed them and in all fairness they have always responded, now apparently they won't send it until the next cd is sent.
To top it all off I will probably (I live in hope) not experience a soundcheck or concert this year either seeing as it doesnt seem he is coming to Spain. Alas I love the mans music so lets see how the year ends, hopefully we will be surprised.

And it would take Prince donating 27 million dollars a day to your favority charity and playing a concert in your kitchen for some of you to say he is MAYBE not so bad. As a matter of fact, even in its most recent press releases, the club is still advertising a monthly membership option. What kind of clarity is that?

Which they do, all the time judging from the constant emails posted on this site. That they have not been told the titles of every CD Prince wants to release this year should be no surprise to anyone. As I said, that has been prince's way for as long as he's been putting out music. As big a Prince fan as I may be, I think I can control myself enough to wait a week to buy the ONA live CD in stores if it meant paying $30 for it instead of $75 as a "lucky" club member.
Pure negative speculation on your part. We don't know if or when it will be released, what the price would be or if a retail version would be different from the one in the Club (i.e. newfunk Crystal Ball 5 CD set vs. retail 4 CD set). This is another example making stuff up for the sake of pessimistic club-bashing. This is the last time I will buy into anything Prince is selling. Anything worthwhile he will release will be available in stores. Chances are, if I wait more than a month, it'll be in the bargain bin as well.
You sound like someone who doesn't particularly like Prince at all. What joy do you get from coming to a site that is primarily focused on someone you dislike so much? You must get some kind of payoff or you wouldn't be here. It's very strange behavior indeed. Xenophobia, etc...come look, Prince is about to rape your mothers...buzzz

I'm sure someone is. I'm not. I LOVED THE CD - the previously released stuff AND the new stuff. Unfortunately, if you go back and check other threads, you are sure to find some company, though. To each his own.

I don't know...
#1) you can't advertize "The Last December","Best of", "Xenophobia", then turn around and say "here's the "Live" set thats going to retail soon, thanks for the $100!" #2) It's false advertizing; You CANNOT say, "well, that's Prince, he changes his mind on stuff, you know", anymore than Disney can mislead you and say, "WELL, that's MICHAEL EISNER, you know". DOESN'T WORK. #3) NPGMC should have stated clearly that 4 discs MAY constitute itself in a multi-disc package. #4) Prince and NPGMC are confusing BUSINESS and ART. Sorry, PRINCE, the rules are different for each. If that is a reality you can't accept, then stick to one or another. Don't use convienient wittisisms like "CON-tract"! ISN"T it funny that that when Warner owned Prince, he thought HE was "conned". Now , he owns a record company, and now he's "conning" YOU ALL!! Prince wrote "Slave" on his face; you "fams" should write "suckered" on your foreheads. "I feel 4 u!"
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Here's how NPGMC SHOULD have worked:
1) PRINCE took the year off to produce and mix FOUR seperate vault collections, be it live, guitar, Revolution, whatever. Just produce 4 discs stuffed, and thought out! Let a professional marketing company handle sales and customer service. or- 2) Handle the administrative end and let fans vote on tracklistings from the vault, and let an outside producer come in and mix and produce. Guest producers like SHEILA E. or Eric Leeds. Whynot? W&L were proposed to produce "Roadhouse Garden"! Anyways, it's too late. NPGMC has turned out to be ANOTHER disaster. As I relax and listen to my store -bought copy of "ONA LIVE" that won't cost me $75, I'll take a moment to think of NPGMC FAMS, and say, sfgfgfg

Honestly, eye think from the looks at the emails. ONA Live! looks like the FIRST thing we are getting b4 the final year.. eye think Prince has more than just this live cd for the members..
here is how eye see it.. ONA Live! in November... and Xenophobia and Last December in December (Our Final Month) they said the least amount of cd's is 4 right? eye think we're in store for more than we are thinking we are getting.. at least thats my "hope" theory, and actually, getting small tips might pay off.. well...I got to meet prince because of the club, I got in to an aftershow in Studio 54 Vegas because of the club...I got to meet Kevin Smith..because of the club...I got a ton of new Prince downloads and burned them to CD because of the club...I got to see prince in the FRONT row in MPLS...because of the club...I own a cloud guitar...because of the club...I was able to chill in a plush chair and talk with Prince for 3 hours in Paisley Park...because of the club...
if the year has ended and I don't see the triple live ONA - that is crap - but if I receive only the triple disc - that's all that was promised to me...when you buy something that you do not get a receipt for...you are always taking a risk...trust Prince to deliver the goods by the end of the year. (my wish is to send out the footage done by Kevin Smith to at least the people who participated) Until Dec. 31...stop bitching.

6. I take it that the 2002 club year ends in February 2003, so should we expect the remaining 3 disc plus one night alone live before then? All 2002 Memberships will end at the end of 2002. All releases will be sent out by then. Love4oneanother, The NPG Music Club http://www.NPGMusicClub.com --- THis is what i found on the NPGMC site about the whole renewal of membership... ?: I am a continuing member finishing up my membership from last year, but I want 2 renew now and not wait until the end. Can I renew now? A: If u would like 2 renew now, simply visit the MY NPGMC section and access RENEW NOW. If u have months that crossover in2 the 2002 edition, u will b able 2 renew at a discounted rate, taking $7.77 off 4 every month that overlaps in2 the 2002 Edition.

And it would take Prince donating 27 million dollars a day to your favority charity and playing a concert in your kitchen for some of you to say he is MAYBE not so bad. Uh, no, not really. Just some communication, clarity & specifics. Oh, & the absence of obsessed fanatics such as yourself. When it comes to Prince's music, you won't find a bigger fan than me. However, that's where my appreciation of him ends. Yours should too, you sunshine-psycho. As a matter of fact, even in its most recent press releases, the club is still advertising a monthly membership option. What kind of clarity is that?
Are we talking about Prince's PR people who write the press releases or are we talking about what the music club has said? Both dear. And if we were to select either one or the other, the fact remains that they are both being paid by Prince to communicate on his behalf & at least one of them does not have their story straight. It's Prince's club & ultimately, he has to answer for everything.
That is my point. Let him answer because it's his decision in the first place. No, your point is to let him get away with screwing people over just because he's so precious. Your point is it's wrong for people to wonder what happened to their $100 because it bought Prince some new eyeshadow & that's more important than getting what he's promised us. Because it's their responsibility as a business to communicate their policy, procedures & product.
Which they do, all the time judging from the constant emails posted on this site. That they have not been told the titles of every CD Prince wants to release this year should be no surprise to anyone. As I said, that has been prince's way for as long as he's been putting out music. The "constant emails" posted on this site reveal absolutely NOTHING. & no, it has not been Prince's way for as long as he's released music. Back in the good old days, when he was on WB's leash, we knew when to expect a new Prince CD months in advance - to the exact date. Now it's a complete guessing game. Sure, there were projects that were announced that never materialized, but we always knew when to expect something. As big a Prince fan as I may be, I think I can control myself enough to wait a week to buy the ONA live CD in stores if it meant paying $30 for it instead of $75 as a "lucky" club member.

This is another example making stuff up for the sake of pessimistic club-bashing. Hardly. You're a bit daft if you think that Prince would sell a 3CD set for $75 in stores, but if we look at what we paid for in the club - $25 per CD, that's what it works out to. Retail value of Prince's last 3CD set was $23.99 where I bought it. Now it's selling for less than $7. There will be no difference in content between the two releases - or Prince would have had his PR people make note of it to entice more people into joining his sham of a club. This is the last time I will buy into anything Prince is selling. Anything worthwhile he will release will be available in stores. Chances are, if I wait more than a month, it'll be in the bargain bin as well.

You must get some kind of payoff or you wouldn't be here. It's very strange behavior indeed. You have no clue do you? You think everyone has to be as obsessed over Prince as you to enjoy the man's music? Or to come to a site about him? It's been said before - if you want to hear nothing but positive opinions about Prince, this isn't the site for you. And reality isn't the world for you, either. "Indeed." The reason I say 12 months is because that is how it worked in the past.
People signed up late in the year and had access to the downloads until Feb this year. Now he may be changing his idea of what constitutes a year, but past performance would make everyone believe that a year is 12 months from the time you sign up. I know a lot of people here did this last year for 2001 membership. Or am I just crazy? **************************************************

The period for subscription in 2002 is from joining up until the end of 2002. You did not buy an annual (i.e. 12 month) or monthly subscription - you subscribed until 31 December 2002. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift. |
