New Cover of Nothing Compares 2 U A new CD compilation was released in the UK this week which features a cover of Nothing Compares 2 U by Welsh band, The Stereophonics.
The album, '1 Love' has been produced by UK music paper, NME, in association with the charity WarChild. The concept of the album is covers of previous numbers 1's by current UK artists and includes Miss Dynamite, the Sugarbabes, and Badly Drawn Boy. The version of Nothing Compares... is quite different - very stripped-down with just a guitar and vocals - but is definitely worth a listen. And the album's for charity so go buy it! All of my hang-ups have gone. How I wish you felt the same.

It's not a bad version at all and I do not really dig the Stereophonics.
But what does annoy me is that in several papers they refer to the cover by the Stereophonics as 'A superb version of Sinead O'Conners' song.' Raaa!!! I realise she made it a hit. But it is not her song! [This message was edited Wed Oct 16 1:17:04 PDT 2002 by nuthinbuttamuffin] ----------

One other thing: In the CD booklet the writing credits for the song are given as Prince/Rogers/Nelson - suggesting it was written by three people. How funny. All of my hang-ups have gone. How I wish you felt the same.

You'd have to go out of your way to botch this song.
