Aftershow in London Thursday AM? I don't know how true this is, but it is on CHANNEL 4 teletext in the UK (Page451):
"Prince played a Fan Club Show at a tiny London club the Connection, in the early hours of Thursday morning. The event also saw a playback of his 3 cd live album 'One Nite'. Out on October 25th, it features several unreleased sonds. Prince also plays at the Hammersmith Apollo, and Manchester Apollo this weekend. The first shows in Britain in 2 years. Recent gigs have been heavily dominated by new songs." Anyone with more info? May U Live 2 See The Dawn

Well, from what I gather he didn't actually play a gig, he just turned up to what has been described as an album listening party, except there didn't seem to be much album listening going on. So basically the report is wrong, it really should be, "Prince turned up somewhere thursday morning. Then he left".
And who was invited? Obviously the person that does the teletext on channel 4, must've been a bigger fan than the rest of us... Geez, news reporters get stories so badly wrong these days, they just print rumours without checking the facts. I'm waiting for the day when the newspaper headline is "World Ends! - As exclusively revealed in yesterday's edition, the world ended a day ago".

It did say November 25th, which is a Monday, and would therefore make sense. Who was invited, that is the big question. If it was press event it would have appeared in other places than one tv station. And if it was a fan event...where are the fans who knew about it? May U Live 2 See The Dawn

Mayfair Club!! We were told by many people that there would be an aftershow at "the Mayfair", but nobody seemed to know where it was. Seems it, quite obviously, is in Mayfair itself, but that is one helluva trek from Hammersmith!!
The show was quite simply spellbinding and nearly 3 hours long! The music just flowed and I never thought I would hear anyone surpass a Led Zeppelin original, but Prince's version of "Whole Lotta Love" did exactly that - trippiest version this pair of ears have ever heard. And, considering the disappointment I endured after missing out on tickets when they went on sale, to say I then obtained tickets through ebay for LESS than face-value(!!) all contributes to making this one of the best nights I have ever had! (Now gotta try and get tix for Fri/Sat or both!!) ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

The Mayfair club was announced as the venue to the club members who were there for the soundcheck. It was easy to get to as the nearest tube is Green Park, which is on the same line as Hammersmith itself, so I went.
There I discovered chaos. There was already a party going on there and the venue was only letting people in as other people left! After an hour+ of queueing, someone, who I assumed was to do with the club, called us together and said that it was aparent that nothing was going to happen at the Mayfair and asked if any of us knew of a venue we could use as an alternative to hang out!!! From the report, I would guess that the alternative turned out to be the Connection, although I cannot verify that as my friends and I decided to call it a day at that point. Also, the soundcheck was complete chaos also, they had some technical difficulties and we were not let in and left inside the Apollo but not in the auditorium. Here we waited for an hour and a half, eventually getting into the auditorium at nearly 6:30. When we got in, Prince was sitting in the seats and was chatting to some people. After a while he got up on the stage and said that he and the band had to go and get ready. Obviously this caused some cries of disaproval, then someone called out to just play one song. So that's what we got, he played Days of Wild, which while pretty cool, was much less than I had expected from the sound check. Hopefully, tonight we be much improved. If this sounds like too much complaining, then I better add that the show was abaolutely fantastic, I thoroughly enjoyed it and considered that I got value for money. RIP

Jep, it was supposed to be Mayfair. The promoters and organisers said that the afterparty was going to be there, but as I got in as a regular guest before everyone else, I just heard a girl saying that the NPG guests were not even on the guestlist. That must have been a sighn that there wasn't going to be an afterparty after all. And besides, a private party had packed the place up, I doubt it wouldn't have been any fun among Prince-fans...
But was there an afterparty somewhere else?

i can't say anything about the afterparty on thursday night, but the event on wednesday night was billed as an 'album listening party' and that was at the collection which is a bar/restaurant in south kensington.
i got invited through a friend at another record label. as far as i can tell (based on going to previous 'listening parties') it would have been organised by an outside party (possibly clear channel who are the agents for the shows) and prince would have been the main guest - can't say for sure. so he wouldn't of neccesarily been involved in the organisation of it. the place was full of london media types, a few z-list celebrities

Prince did gave an aftershow saturday the 5th in New Marquee in Angel London. It was a small set up in a venue that holds 1000 people, he played a great set of 45 minutes with an extended jam and audience performance of the work pt 1, automatic / shake, tambourine / sexy dancer, dolphin, sign of the times (diff version), and a few others i can't remember evertthing but it was very special and different, great guitar funk rocked the place.
