There was a Prince album listening party last night in London.
Prince arrived at about 11ish. There was a big One Nite Alone... Live banner, but i didn't hear the new album. (i left just after 12, so it may have been played afterwards)

When he got there he went straight through to the upstairs VIP section.

All night they were playing P music mixed with some nu-soul. Prince tracks played were Hot Thing, Pop Life, Raspberry Beret, High, Supercute, U Got The Look, She Spoke 2 Me, Muse 2 The Pharoah, If I Was U're Girlfriend, One Kiss At A Time, Thieves In The Temple and then some.

When Prince arrived they showed what seemed to be a TV ad for the album, the audio was Rainbow Children

if this is true...how the heck is Prince promoting an album he promised 2 us 1rst?

how comes no information about this came to us?

i would have liked to have gone? anyone else?

Okay, you get it first. But then what? That's right, he gets a distributor and sells it worldwide. And the distributors need to hear it before they agree to sell it. So they have a little get together, have some snacks, drink some drinks, hear some music, discuss possibilities. If it was a RELEASE party and he was selling it tomorrow at Target, then you could say "we were supposed to get it first!". But it's just a listening thing for biz folk. He does them all the time and they are rarely if ever open to the public.

"i arrived around 9:30 - 10:00. There were some people standing outside, doormen and a lady who had a guest list. When i step towards her i said to her yes im here for the NPG party, she then asked me my name and i told her. she asked if that was my first name and i said yes. she look through the sheets and found my name and said please go right in. it was upstairs in a pretty party room i thought there weren't alot of people there yet but there were quite a few. they were playing the cd already when i walk in. there were Prince "things" all around, signs, posters, curtains and on the stage was a video screen showing pictures of prince during the tour. they showed alot from his New York show. there was also another screen in a rope off area. NewPowerNewYork was there handing out t-shirts and press kits. which contained the cd-rom.
the party started to pick up around 10:30 11:00. it was much later than 11:00 when prince arrived. there were others who arrived before him. some of the people on the list provided on npgmc. the whole time there i just wonder "who are these people" it was cool cuz i just watch them. i wanted to see how they reacted to the music. the club had these beautiful girls pass out ordvers. they were so GOOD. prince arrived i would say after 12:30. he didn't come through the front but throught the kitchen. i was standing by the bar waiting for the tender to serve me some water... i was on my best behavior that night. no drinking and no smoking. though i did bum ONE cigrette from a bouncer. when the bar tender gave me some water i just by chance looked over at the screen by the roped off area and thats when i notice that Prince was there... he was chilln chowing down on some gum. He had on the Coolest suit. a light purplish color in the lights. he sat there and greeted certain people as they were brought to him. i like the way how when a lady came he stood up for her and greeted her. i could tell some of the people he didn't really want to talk to ... Sayma looked really pretty and Ed norton seem to be protective over her. when she was talking to Prince, Norton would caress her in some way. her neck or her arms. they stay with Prince the longest.. Prince seemed to be annoyed by Norton. Norton threw his dirty napkin on Princes table and i thought that to b a bit rude but it was a club so whatever. when they announced that the party was over Prince still was there chatting it up with people. then just as quick as he was there he was gone. i talked to the girl from NPNY and she introduced me to this guy who runs it. then i left.

funny thing is outside i was walking home towards the train and i went around the street... and it turns out it was were the private exit was... and i seen Prince coming out going to his car waiting 4 him. and as i look up and seen him this lady sanding next to me yelled out "Prince!" He was talking to the people with him... he seems annoyed when she did this but he looked over and yelled back "Yeah!!" and she yelled back "you Sexy" he smiled and got into the car and drove off.

weird thing is... when i got home i went to check my phone message... and on my caller id there was a call from 612 area code. i called that number and Lynn from paisley park answered.
