Launch updates the charts for Prince *** The Artist's '1999' creeping back up chart (Launch) - For the Artist (formerly known as Prince), the week's sales figures show an up-and-down pattern. His latest album, "Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic," sinks from No. 90 down to No. 101 in the new Billboard magazine. For the week, "Rave" sold less than 26,000 copies, a decrease of more than 6,000 from the previous week. The current single, "The Greatest Romance Ever Sold," also slips, from No. 22 to No. 28 on the Soundscan sales chart. The single's sales dipped by 2,000 copies. In its second week on Billboard's dance singles chart, "The Greatest Romance Ever Sold" lost one place, slipping from No. 7 to No. 8. However, the news isn't all bad. In its second week back on Soundscan's singles chart, Prince's "1999" jumps from No. 131 to No. 105. The Artist has announced that "1999" is the song he'll be playing at his New Year's Eve pay-per-view event, "Rave Un2 the Year 2000 With the Artist," when the clock strikes midnight. | |
