Prince Plays 'Live' In Harlem

You may or may not heard, but Prince held a listening party the other night (September 24th) at Jimmy's Uptown in Harlem, New York. The invited heard his first live box-set named One Night Alone...Live! After the release of Emancipation and Crystal Ball, two successful box-sets, I was wondering when another box-set was on its way. Some of the many highlights, besides amazing band work from from John Blackwell, Candy Dulfer, Najee and Maceo Parker, was hearing piano versions of "Adore," "Diamonds & Pearls" and "The Beautiful Ones." Prince was a no show for the first few hours, but reception from the likes of Cassandra Wilson and Common knodding their heads could have been a sign of okay. Or was it the open bar? Or those damn good and some vegetarian hors d'oeuvres? Or the fine women who served them? Or the free CD-ROM and T-shirt? Also on hand, Musiq Soulchild (who also appears on the box-set), Me'Shell Ndegeocello, George Clinton, ?uestlove of The Roots as well as Justin Guarini, Nikki McKibbin and Tamyra Gray from "American Idol." No word still when this box-set will be released. I'm sure his website, npgmusicclub.com will have the info shortly.

BLACKMF

Good to see someone refers to Crystal Ball and Emancipation as successful box sets - contrary to popular belief, they were - commercially and artistically!

Ya, invite the American Idol dweebs and screw the NPGMC / die hards...what CD-ROM? Do I need to patrol e-bay for this? I am surprised that Menudo or New Kids On The Block weren't invited, hell Gerrardo was probably there - Rico Suave! sad
