Report on 1999 tribute gig

i attened the prince tribute concert held over the weekend
at BAM ( BROOKLYN ACADEMY OF MUSIC ).
the roots and various artist pefrormed the 1999 album.

the show opened with a slow version of 1999 and black thought
from the roots rapped along with this version
joan osbourne performed little red corvette and she did
a beautiful job ( out of all the performers i think she was the best )
next up was coati mundi doing delirious and i can't tell you
how this man totally f----- up this song, he definetly needed
his ass kicked.
a singer by the name of rachid performed let's pretend were married
and he stayed close to the original version
singer angelique kidjo perforned a very funky D.M.S.R,
n'dea davenport formely of the brand new heavies turned
out the joint with AUTOMATIC..
i can't remember who did SOMETHING IN THE WATER (does not compute)
but pm dawn did a reggae version of FREE, which was pretty nice
corey glover former lead singer of the group living colour
did a extra funky version of LADY CAB DRIVER, this number got everybody on their feet
carl hancock rux did ALL THE CRITICS LOVE YOU IN NY this guy
a part of the nu yorican poetry movement. nothing special
about his pefrormance, and last a performer by the name bilal
did a very sexy and down right dirty version of INTERNATIONAL LOVER
we heard that he was in attendance but i can't say because
i didn't see him and he didn't come out
