Jim Walsh on violence and "Papa"

Jim Walsh (Sunday, May 2, 1999) looks at violence in movies and music and asks "What is 'good' violence?". He suggests that Prince's references have a positive purpose.
"Prince, ``Papa,'' and Loudon Wainwright III, ``Hitting You.'' Two achingly poigant views of child abuse--as told from the perspective of child and father, respectively. Both are harrowing, but educating: Prince pokes fun at himself (``Don't abuse children, or else they'll end up like me'').....
