It's starting to become pathetic. All you can do is complain, over and over again.
"Shouldn't there be Kiss on it or at least Purple Rain"."Do I get my money's worth?"

___

not everybody has been complaining, art. anyway, who cares if it's "starting to become pathetic"? if a fan has a genuine grievance, what's pathetic about it? if a number of fans have genuine grievances, perhaps there's some truths in there.

most people seem happy that "kiss", "purple rain", etc are not on the discs. this isn't really a common complaint.

as for getting your money's worth, well, why not?! i'm not a member of the NPGMC myself, i figured it would cause heartbreak and angst. but i do sympathise with the members. it's september now and they've only been given one special release. if (as looks likely) the club is going to fulfil its promise of 4 discs with the bare minimum necessary to satisfy the law, then again i sympathise.

again and again, the club has promised great treasures for its poor members. promises are set up, vague enough to suggest that they'll be getting something exclusive... as time drags on, information and misinformation is leaked out which drives everybody nuts... building up hopes, knocking those hopes down... until when they finally deliver something- anything- even just the chance to buy something ahead of the store release date- the members have to feel satisfied with that.

if i was a member of the NPGMC i'd be very annoyed by now. sorry that you find people's feelings "pathetic".

what can we do to make you feel better? how you feel about this is a very important issue to many of us here.

I'm really looking forward to this. After years of mixed quality bootleg live versions, at least this one should be high quality. I would've loved to have live versions of some other tracks like 'Kiss', but I guess this isn't to be.

I just hope that this isn't the 3 CD's we're waiting for to fulfill the NPGMC 4 CD's of new music promise.
I've never been into Live albums, I don't think old songs re-recorded should count as NEW music, If I want to hear these live I'll buy a bootleg, the one thing worse than a live album is a compilation of live songs from different shows.

Hi there!

Ok, maybe I was just a little bit overreacting.Pathetic is a rather harsh word. I'm sorry for that.
I still think though that there is a lot of complaining. One time it is about the musical part - of which I think that you can take it or not, as simply as that - , the other time it's about (tiny) things that go wrong. It's ok to critisize but do it in a more nuanced way.
Maybe my expectations are lower. Of course I think the club must keep their promises. But I still think they will. And true, the way the make you 'happy or excited' with vague promises isn't really professional and now and then even irritating.
But I want to emphasize that the musical journey for me is much more important. And since a year I feel very excited again about that part. That makes up a lot for me.

Art.
I'm a Rainbow Children, Xpectation, News and Musicology lover and I'm startin'to be a 3121 lover.

Before anyone even says it - who is more important in selling copies of this 3 cd set - the NPGMC members or the Press?
The Press of course - so don't go off in a huff because you didn't hear it first from Prince. We are pre-sold in his mind. Club or no club most of us are going to buy his newest product so why inform us first. We aren't the ones he has to convince to buy the newset cds.

Well, that argument would make more sense if Prince didnt have his own website. It wouldnt cost anything to post the track listing on www.npgmusicclub.com to let the loyal "pre-sold" customers know this news. Also, I seriously doubt Prince is personally handling this kind of thing. He has several people that work for him and he delegates certains tasks to them like the head of any corporation would.

I can not believe the whining and crying that is already going on here! UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLE!
and what's this about fall being almost over?...I don't know about y'all but...check your calender...according to mine...fall hasn't even started yet.
Art, I don't think you needed to apologize, but that's just MHO.

I don't care if I found out from Rolling Stone, or NPGMC, I don't care if I have to buy this album or I get it for free. I'm psyched that it's coming out, I'm cautious of the details, and I THANK PRINCE WHOLEHEARTEDLY!
WOO-HOO!! THANX PRINCE!!

"FACE" sure seems to waste a lot of time stating the obvious to boost his own "credibility." You mean Prince doesn't do his own XHTML? Gee, for all these years I've been kidding myself!

I'm really excited for this set. You can tell Prince is paying attention; these are mostly obscure and fan-favorite tracks rather that the hits. I think that means he's trying to make his fans happy.

Personally, I love most of the hits but I think it's cool that he's going for a vibe rather than pumping out another medley to make some cash. Artistic restraint is underrated.

Overall, a great set. I'm stoked. I don't care if I hear it from Rolling Stone or from the club first. In fact, most news we hear doesn't come from the club first anyway, so we should be happy that this news comes from reputatable sources in any case.

My only disappointment is the omission of "Pass the Peas" -- I hadn't heard this song until this tour, then went out and bought a few Maceo CDs...it rocks, and P seemed to have a lot of fun with it. If that's my only complaint about this release then I will be one happy man.

Isn't this release going tobe done through a major?, anyway why would the general public be interested in this cd outside the US as it's based on TRC that was only out on import - where's the logic in that?, if he wants it tobe a commercial hit shouldn't there logically be more hits on it?. Personally i can't wait to get it and hope it'll be a hit , just hope the public are open minded.

I think the bottom line here is that we all have 2 at least try and be patient with this whole membership thing. I know it's not easy, and trust me, I don't like it any more than anyone else, but this is only September. Anything can still happen before the year is over.

4 the record, I still haven't received my FIRST CD yet. Yes, I'm upset about that, but at the same time, who am I 2 jump 2 conclusions about anything when my membership is 4 a whole year.

All we can do is just give it time.

This cd is a good move from Prince, and it's a good thing that he didn't put too many tiring old hits on there.

This cd may possibly introduce a new aspect of Prince to the general public.

Damn! 2 Nigs United 4 West Compton is on there SHIIIAAT!

See ya in Antwerp !

I look forward to any new Prince release, and I'm sure I'll love the live set.

However, I have sent 100 dollars to Prince's company, it is September, and I have yet to receive a single item. We may love his music, but business is business. If he is not honouring his side of the deal then we have every right to be angry.

Prince may not write his own HTML but as the boss he is responsibile for his company.

I can't believe the set doesn't include "I love u, but I don't trust u anymore", he's been playing all tour and its the nuts. Surely the best track off the Rave album, IMO. This should of been on this Live album. What do you all reckon?
