Launch article on Prince and the charts Wow..... *** The Artist's latest falling off charts (Launch) - In only its second full week on the chart, the new album from the Artist formerly known as Prince has taken a decidedly negative trajectory. Last week, "Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic" debuted at No. 18, but on Monday's Billboard chart, the record falls to No. 42 on the top 200 album chart. More than 47,000 copies of "Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic" were sold last week, down from the nearly 84,000 sold the previous week. The Artist saw a similar drop on Soundscan's top Internet sales chart, where "Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic" slipped from No. 5 last week to No. 33. Only 400 copies of the album were sold over the Internet, down from over 1,100 the week before. The news is a little better on Soundscan's singles chart, where "The Greatest Romance Ever Sold" is at No. 19 on sales of almost 15,000 copies. The single has been holding steady around that chart position for the past three weeks. | |
