The performance by in the TV-show for tonight is off. The rockstar, not
satisfied with the recording, left for his hotel in Amsterdam with the
mastertape. According to the microphones were badly tuned and the
instruments were not
audible in the mix.
Ivo Niehe, who made it widely known that he had the first dutch talkshow with
, speaks of starlike airs. "At first he didn't want to rehearse, but agreed
with one rehearsal, which actually was too little. NOT ONE of
the 20 people he had with him, was prepared to check the sound beforehand. At
first he refused to be interviewed, 15 minutes later he changed his mind
because the audience was so enthousiastic. At the end he took AL the tapes with
him, including the one with the
interview."



did speak with the AD. (meul2:AD is a dutch newspaper) "Making music is
just as natural as breathing", says casually. You don't talk about
breathing. That's the logic of . One of the first lessons he learned, was
to make it all by yourself.



"It started with my first album. I was green and thought I could trust the
technician (a veteran). But because he was in the business for so long, his
hearing was partly damaged. Especially the high tones. So the record I got was
one with very prominent
high tones. From that moment I decided to do it all by myself."



Still his music of the '90s is of less quality than his groundbraking period.



"That's not the way I see it," he replies calmly, playing with the big hoop in
his rightear. "I have the notion my music
is only becoming clearer. I get to results which have a more direct impact alot
quiker. What I have to say, is much easier to for me to put into words
nowadays. The rustle disappeared from my life. That's because I'm closer to God
now."



hates money. "A lot of guests appear on my album but nobody got paid. If
you started about money, you could leave. The musicians play on my album and I
will play on theirs. That's the right way, the oldfashioned trading. I am
convinced
that money destroys the musicindustry. What is money anyway?" He laughs
outloud. "A piece of paper with the face of a stiff on it."
