Another report on Harald Schmidt Show performance Thursday evening Prince and the latest incarnation of NPG closed the German
talkshow Harald Schmidt Show with a guitardriven version of Baby Knows. Prince was introduced by Harald Schmidt - a German version of David Letterman - as The Artist, and accompanied by Morris Hayes on mouth organ he ripped into a great version of the tune with Kip doing his best to substitute Sheryl Crow's lyrics. Prince was dressed in a gold/greenish outfit and his look was taken right outta Graffiti Bridge. Even though the band didn't seem completely tight on the tune - the horns need a bti of work to be done - the audience was on it's feet cheering and clapping through the spoken parts of the song. Prince ended the song with a great guitar solo after which he walked to the camera and "gave" his blue guitar to the viewers while miming "What you think 'bout that?" Harald Schmidt applauded the man and tried to end the show but the man returned to the stage for one final bow to much appraise from the audience. Then finally Harald Schmidt was given time to say his goodbyes. All in all a great performance from a guy in a great mood... but I doubt that this show was notably different from other tv-shows he's done in Europe recently. | |
