Prince sends out a press release on the Madrid show? ( EW)(THE-ARTIST) The Following Report was Called in by the Artist
-Formerly Known as Prince-: Entertainment / People Page Editors MADRID, Spain--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Nov. 24, 1999--Last night, a riot shook the stage on which The Artist Formerly Known As Prince performed on in Spain. Five songs into his impromptu concert at the Aqualung club in Madrid last night, The Artist (Formerly Known As Prince) started to play one of his spicier numbers called "Come On." Letting the lyrics of the song lead the way, The Artist invited a few members of the audience on stage to join him, which he's done before with great success. But before he knew it, the entire audience was rushing to the stage, each pushing and shoving for their 15 minutes of fame on stage with the musical icon. "Come On's lyrics really create excitement -- but it looked like a friendly riot to me," reported The Artist. So what did The Artist do to get the crowd in control -- he let them stay on stage for three songs and then decided to get them tired -- by holding a dance contest. The contest did the trick and the crowd retrieved long enough to let him close the show all by himself. "I don't usually rate myself, but that was the best performance I've ever done!" The Artist is on a promotional tour of Europe right now in support of his brand new album "Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic" which is top 20 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart this week. | |
