Second report on Madrid gig Here is my report of the Madrid performance in Aqualung
last night. I flew from Belgium to Madrid yesterday morning and went to the club around 6pm. There were already about 100 people waiting. Emancipation Words & Pictures books were thrown into the waiting crowd. Around 10 :30 pm the doors opened. Until 0:30 am we had to listen to stupid music. But then it became interesting. I didn't get to write down as many details as with the Mermaid Theatre performance, but here it goes : The Band : [pre:0deadbeef0] The Artist : whatever Mayte : dancing and some singing Kirk Johnson : drums Morris Hayes : synths and organs Kip : synths and organs Mike Scott : guitar Hornheads : trombone/saxophone and trumpet A woman I don't remember the name of on the congas [/pre:0deadbeef0] The Artist wore his dark purple suit like he did at the Mermaid Theatre performance in London. He had little blue ribbons in his hair like on the Rave sleeve. After the break he came back in his red suit and had red ribbons in his hair. The Setlist : they played from around 0 :25 am - 02u55 am [pre:0deadbeef0] - Hola Hola Hola chant - The Jam (by Larry Graham) - Thank You (with The Artist joining him) around this time a ventilator was placed in front of The Artist, it was getting too hot for him - Everyday People - Larry's Bass Solo (Eyemagettin') - I Want To Take You Higher - Come On during which people were invited on stage to dance. Some cried into the microphone and The Artist let them continue. Also a Spanish woman unknown to me came onstage. A dance contest followed. 10 min. break - The One (instrumental) - Let's Go Crazy during which he left the stage 3 times - She's Always In My Hair - U Got The Look - Kiss - Oye Como Va - Gett Off - Gett Off Housestyle - Newpower Soul - Fight The Power - Flashlight + speech about Jesus - Talkin' Loud And Sayin' Nothing - It's Alright 5 min. break - Purple Rain [/pre:0deadbeef0] After the light were on, The Artist and Larry + their wives came back to greet the audience and then left for good. The Artists seemed very happy and shook hands with people in the front rows. Mayte was present during the whole performance and seemed happy as well. At one point he said something like "Mayte is not always happy, but when she hears my music she's happy" I wonder what he meant with that. That's all folks The Yormeister Productions 1999 | |
