More info on Madrid show The show at Aqualung (in the southwest corner of Madrid) was announced last
Friday. Tickets went on sale immediately ONLY at the venue for 5000 Ptas (about $35 US dollars). The Aqualung venue was a surprise; it was a very popular club back in the early 90s, but has been closed for years. When I went there to pick up my tickets, I found the place boarded up in a shopping mall (where most of the stores were closed and also boarded up). Old garbage cans were everywhere in the entrance and a hand-written sign announced the show. Tickets were for sale "cash only" which upset many. The venue holds 2000 people and by 5 p.m. (when I bought mine), 1500 had sold. The venue is closed on the weekends, so the rest will be sold Monday. The doors open at 9:30 and music is rumored to begin around 11:30 on Tuesday night. The venue is a strange choice; the only thing I can think of is that using an old run-down place like this is a matter of higher profits for the artist. Nevertheless, I will be there a few hours early. If anyone reads this and wants to say hello to another ppml reader, look for me near the head of the line before the doors open: "David"-- tall white American dude in his 30s with a beard. My Spanish is limited. See you there. | |
