During Becks current "One Night Alone Tour" (acoustic and very stripped down) he mentioned Prince cited in this review from VH1

Beck dabbled in cover songs at the sold-out performance, at one point singing a verse from Prince's "Raspberry Beret." The crowd clapped to the beat as Beck said, "It's a song by the purple one, but I like to say it is going out to the other purple one. Just visualize that I'm singing it to Barney."

Beck rules! I had the pleasure to danse with him on stage during his last parisian show last year. It was thrilling.

Even prior to the release of Midnight Vulture, I had always thought that he had the same musical attitude as Prince : great and very different musical influences perfectly mixed with many great ideas in order to get a perfect song. For me, that's a Prince attitude.
And there is also the same love and knowledge of music. He and Prince both love what they do and it shows.


But I must admit I'm surprised by the name of his tour. Didn't 2020 get confused?

One Night Alone?!? I have to say "Peaches & Cream" was a bit too much for me, I'd rather have Mutations over it anyday, but this is just...

O.K. I am finally able to open up the link n it says NOWHERE that his tour is called One Night Alone so this si jut a Prince mention n it should be changed.

His NEW album is called Sea Change.

Even jocked his "do me baby" style from Prince doing "debra" on the vh-1 fashion awards a few years back.

Sorry, but "Do Me Baby" was hardly a unique song when it came out...and Beck is making fun of that genre as sure as he's celebrating it. With lyrics like "I like the crotch on you" do you honestly think he's jocking Prince?

Beck is actually playing a solo unplugged show. This tour could actually be called "One Night Alone" & make sense.

New album out on september 24th.

Before any more people make more silly comments about "one night alone". I think 2020 means it's a similar, stripped down, show. Not that it's actually called "one night alone".

Yes, Beck has some skills. And, he's good at what he does in terms of entertainment. But, call it like you see it. with all the Prince comparisons, he's hardly unique. And, in terms of his style musically...again, the comparison can be made. I just think that he is a good musician in a field of good musicians. Not quite the level of a Prince who I think we can all agree is on a whole other level. Beck has a way to go before being mentioned in that vain...

ThirdStrike is exactly right. i like Beck. Midnite Vultures is a terrific album.

however Beck is nowhere near Prince's level of talent.
