Prince Inspired Short Film "The Future" Makes It's Debut The Future Length: 4 min 8 sec Filmmaker: John Trujillo
Synopsis: In 1989 multi-talented musician released the soundtrack to the motion picture Batman. The album went straight to #1. He released 3 videos that accompanied the album. The best track on the album, "The Future" didn't have a video. I always felt it should have and this is my vision of what it might have looked like.Distributor: IFILM. http://www.ifilm.com/ifil...42,00.html

"The best track on the album, "The Future" "..., the best track should have been "Dance With The Devil", terrific song! Prince, the World must know...

That video was pretty cool for something he did with likely a very small budget and some clips from Batdance. Bravo!

Upon my viewing, it was rated by 179 people, and currently has the top rating possible of 5.0. A perfect score.
Love the movie splices, like Pulp Fiction. Although, how much can one expect? Did anyone else notice that not once is Prince's name mentioned by the guy, and there aren't even very many shots of him in the video? I wonder if that was on purpose? Perhaps an attempt for people with pre-conceived notions about Prince to watch the video from an un-biased point of view? Anyways, it was pretty fuzzy going through on my 56k, but decent job nonetheless, all things considered. To echo the sentiments of some previous posts, it was a pretty good job.
I actually thought it would have relied less on on the Batdance vid clips, but with the budget he had, he interpreted the song lyrics nicely. Peace,

Great idea. Quite a cool video.
Best song on BatMan is Scandalous tho. "...because no-one gets there alone." - "...I like the floor. It's the only thing that seems real."

Bravo,
Pretty good for an amateur. He felt that 'The Future' needed a video. Instead being negative and complaining about the fact that Prince never did a video for it, he did his own. Thanks for sharing your vision of the future.

Just because a song is unreleased doesn't make it good. If you'd ever listened to any darker music in your life you would know that Dance With The Devil is a lame and feeble track and it was in everyone's (espcially Princes') best interest to leave it off the album. It's fucking hokey. The rest of that album is great, except Batdance, but whatever. As far as this 'future' video. It was alright for what it was. (even if what it was was mostly samples from Batdance and shots of some guy in a cape mouthing the lyrics to a Prince song)

(...) + most of the fans I know find that it's a great song + ""Dance With The Devil" is a fantastic track and a reminder of how adventurous and exciting some of Prince's most inspired music can be"- Turn It Up,but whatevever...

Inspired. I thought the pacing was a bit off during the Pulp Fiction clips, but otherwise the video was very enjoyable. It had sort of a "Paisley Park" quality to it. "Gravity isn't just a law, it's a good idea."

What player and bandwith do you have to choose to watch this thing?

The Film can be viewed in Real Player and is best viewed by DSL or Cable but will play at 56K.

I think the future is definitely one of the best tracks on the album, I particularly liked the "extended dance remix" that was available in the UK for a while.
