An article in the Washington Post on 22 April called "WHEN DEATH IMITATES ART: Before Teenagers Commit Violence, They Witness It in American Culture" refers to Prince's use of the gun microphone.



"You can see it in the artist formerly known as Prince, who on a recent tour performed with a microphone shaped like a handgun so that when he sang, it looked as if he was pointing the gun into his mouth, flirting with suicide."
