Prince on new Me'Shell NdegeOcello CD?

Humo (a dutch magazine) says it is maybe (!) Prince who plays guitar on the song "Dead Nigga Blvd (part two)" under the name "Kid Funkadelic"

Kid Funkadelic is actually the longtime guitarist for Parliament Funkadelic, Michael Hampton. If you just listen to the track in question, you can tell it's not Prince's guitar style. Hampton has been playing with P-Funk since he was just about 17 years old and is an amazing player in his own right. Ever since the late, great Eddie Hazel passed away, Michael has been taking over guitar duties in concert on the classic guitar solo track Maggot Brain from the early days of Funkadelic. (An essential funk record, if you don't already have it, I urge you to go out and locate a copy of it)

Hahaha that's terrible journalism. Close the thread.

Kid Funkadelic is Mike Hampton.

Meshell did want Prince to play guitar on track seven "Trust" though.

Michael "Kidd Funkdelic " Hampton...yeah he tears it up on the track. Michael is one of the baddest guitarist around. You can check his solo stuff out at www.thefunkstore.com

Peace!

Of course it's terrible journalism... from Serge Simonart once again...
This is not music, this is a trip
No, it's not a drug, it's something more hip
Don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine
Purple music does the same to my brain

His book ("Fuck Off en andere quotes") is currently for 7 euro or so in De Slegte. Buy it to laugh your ass off, because apparently Simonart managed to meet both Chris Moon and Owen Husney in Minneapolis (and they say EXACTLY the same thinsg as in that BBC documentary!) when he was there for the 1996 Emancipation Proclamation thingy, and met Levi (who IIRC was already out of PP for quite a while) and asked Prince about his appearance in "Fargo". Funniest thing: the book starts with this ego trip about how he's this fantastic journalist and how he always is honest and doesn't rip off other people's interviews etc. Simonart is considered a joke even at Humo, not in the least since he always seems to interview the same people over and over again.

lol This guy needs to log onto www.getaclue.com. Makes ya wonder if this is Fam-based thinking: "I hear a good guitarist playing funk, so it must be Prince."

This is a good opportunity for some Prince fans to learn some history...

Michael Hampton is one of the greatest guitar players ever.

Prince was very much influenced by his playing...specificlly Mikes live version of Maggot Brain...that perfomance circa 1978 influenced Prince's purple rain...

Mike is still doing his thing too...
