Millennium Dome is a staggering waste of public money that is being built in London to celebrate the new millennium. As Nick Cohen wrote in the New Statesman 'to its critics....the millennium bazaar will be a carnival of vacuity. As with a Lloyd-Webber musical, the show's spectacular scale is meant to overwhelm questions of value. The result, wrote the novelist Ian Sinclair, is a "Disneyland on-message" that had "nothing to do with bemused citizens"'. Oh, I suppose I should say the Dome has its supporters too. | |
