Bataclan review 3 Quick review of what happened last night here in Paris.
The show was announced on TV at around 8:20PM. I got there at around 8:40PM to find that there was already 1000 people in line for it. Knowing that the "Bataclan" couldn't take much more I decided to make an indecent proposal to a couple at the beginning of line. We were let in around 12:30AM. I got comfortable (sic) up front. The rodies were setting up stage and they were having serious problems. At one point something popped staged left and a serious smell began to seep through... They all started screaming at each other, holding their heads and calling each other all sorts of nasty names... I'm sure Prince & Larry would not of approved of this at all. 3:30 AM rolled around and they were still trying to get things working. That when Prince and the NPG came on stage REALLY wanting to get things started. Prince walked around shaking some hands to a very relieved crowd. He knew that we were tired and ready for something else other than RAVE blarring on the PA system. He tried to take a guitar to start something but a techy told him that it wasn't working... Prince at this point was not amused, he walked over to the drum set and did a little solo for us. After a little bit of this I think they were ready. The show lasted about 2 hours. I remember him playing Everyday People Thank you for... Kiss Get Off oh hell, I let someone else give you a better listing. Not many highlight to mention. Larry was all over the place as usual. Prince reffered to himself as Prince in his speech to us saying: "You read the newspapers and they say that Prince is crazy. Well you know it's true." He got some people up on stage at the end of the show including an incredibly beautiful "fuzzy haired" girl he had sang about earlier on. Wow. All in all the show wasn't memorable to say the least. Technical difficulties throughout show really got to him I think. Half of prince's lyrics during the show was "put the mike up", "can't hear the keyboards", "put larry's mike up and stop disrespecting", "lemme here some more horns" and so on... Voila, sorry if this review isn't more music oriented. Maybe someone else could give you a better impression on that aspect. | |
