seek out the japanese laserdisc of SOTT. superior sonics and visuals and 100 percent legit. Find a decent laserdisc player and you get get all those other Prince videos that are not on DVD but are on LD like the Undertaker, Sacrafice of Victor, Gett Off, UTCM, Graffiti Bridge, Sheila E Romance 1600 Live, 3 CHains of Gold, Diamonds and Pearls

True, but then you've got this damn LD player lying around that is useless for anything *except* playing those discs. And LDs are analog, and tend to deteriorate... sad

I want Warner to put out the back catalog of Prince-related movies and videos... that would be fantastic. But unlikely, currently...

True about laser rot, my DP laserdisc is rotted and looks worse than a VHS. It's not hard now to make dvdr's from your rare laser discs, but you need access to a real time dvd writer... unless you want to digitize the laser disc to a hard drive...

a) Why isn't the song Sign O The Times on here?
b) Why are the songs out of order?
c) Did a brazilian bootlegger really get the movie Dolby-ized.. doesn't this take expertise?
d) If they did go through all that expense, would they really be able to sell it for $20???

Has anyone actually seen this DVD? If its better than VHS, it would be worth the money.

Where can you find these on laser disc - I've wanted to get a few of those myself. And is the sound quality of the laser disc for SOTT better than the VHS?

Of course, all of this on official DVDs would be best.

If you really want to get SOTT on DVD you have to petition Universal. They own the rights to SOTT on home video, WB does not. wink

It'd be exciting if it was a FULL SOTT gig. Does anyone have one of these, or a full PARADE gig for that matter?

I have plenty of audio boots from those tours, but having misssed the SOTT tour due to P cancelling, I've always wanted to see the full tour.

this is the reason companies have to get these movies out on DVD before the bootleggers.

Release a legit copy and cash in on the market guys, or the boots will beat you at the game

Very good point starboy.

I recently found the original Star Wars trilogy special edition on "DVD," which, if anyone cares to know, hasn't been OFFICIALLY released yet! It figures they came from Malasia (why do overseas bootleggers have it so good?) biggrin

The point being that these DVDs were ripped from Laser Disc. When you play the movies in your player, you get the usual interactive DVD menu, language and sound control, and even a movie trailer (for the re-release of the movies in theaters a few years ago). When the movie actually starts and the opening logo appears, it says "THX laserdisc."

The look and sound is incredible. Even the boxes have fantastic cover art with glossy paper, the whole 9...

You'd never guess they were LD rips if you saw them at the store!

So it's no surprise to me here that a Prince "DVD" is showing up on a website. If you go to Yahoo auctions and search for "Prince DVD," there will be a list of about 8-10 bootlegged shows on "DVD" now. The seller doesn't have any feedback but it would be quite an amazing thing to see, even for a bootlegged show.

Xeee- XENOPHOBIA! It ain't over...

eBay had about 4 of these up for auction.. I think the auction ends soon. They were in the $75+ range. Look for a seller named n$a, or do a search.

These bootlegged DVD-r are certainly doing the rounds right mow. I wonder how good they are in quality cos it all depends on the source material.

DVD's ripped from laserdisc will be good quality but I wonder how good the ones from video sources are. I have my doubts.

Hello?!?!? this is a bootleg. A very poor one for that matter. It's not even the entire show?!!? The pics are from 1984 for god sakes. Prooving that it's a boot. The only reason they wouldn't have the whole show is because they couldn't fit the whole show. DVD-Rs are only 4.5 Gigs big. Professional DVDs are at LEAST 7.0 Gigs.

There is a disclaimer towards the bottom of the webpage containing the DVD info, explaining in detail how the DVD is 100% legit. It may be a total farse still, but it looks like it's possibly "official". And also, maybe they just didn't have access to the correct track list, and correct years artwork, based on why they said they were able to produce it in the first place. If they were cramped for space for the full show, why omit tracks to make room for the Theatrical Trailor, and Bios? I also ordered one, with the hopes that it rocks, and will indeed update here after first viewing. Just sending out some positive vibes, and some cheerful optimizm. smile

When I first heard about this, I emailed the guys at DVDBrazil and asked about the DVD's legitimacy. I just received this response today:

---
Hi Kyle,

Sorry for delay to reply.

I watched the Prince DVD. Really the songlist are incorrect on the cover. I
noted the sequel and changed it on our website like it appears on DVD.
Please take a look now and let me know if anything is different from US
video version.

We at DVDBrazil can guarantee all titles are bought directly from studios or
their authorizeds. Please read our note at the DVD page details for
explained situtation about different covers.

I could classify the sound & video quality like 4 from 0 to 5. Not 5 because
I think the master was not remasterized, but this is a true DVD disc, not
VCD, DVD-R or bootleg.

Please feel free to contact us if you have more questions.

Best regards,

Alex Leandro

Howdy,

I'm getting a free copy of the SOTT DVD from my DVD source in Brazil as a favor. I'll post a review as soon as I get it.

I have the Guns N Roses Brazilian DVDs that were released 3 months ago and they are just *ok*, nothing special, they seem like boots to me. The GNR was ripped from the laserdisc, IMO.There are some glitches on the GNR DVDs, like out of sync audio, video stutters, and
sound drop outs. From what I heard DVD Total bought the rights to release the GNR DVDs exclusively in Brazil in a limited quantity of
30,000. Could be a total crock of shit, who knows? I didn't see one Geffen logo or mention on the cases or during the Guns N Roses videos. DVD Total, the group that produced the DVDs edited out the Geffen logo at the beginning of the GNR DVDs.

I bet the SOTT DVD was ripped from the Japanese LD too. It's a shame that the bootleggers didn't bother to remaster the A/V.

If you are hesitant about buying the SOTT Brazilian DVD, don't despair...

A lil' birdie told me that someone will rip the boot SOTT DVD in SVCD format and make it available on the net (ABMP) very soon!
