"Prince is being sued by a woman who claims she was "branded a thief" by the singer and his company, Paisley Park Enterprises.

{{{Charlene Friend, a former girlfriend of the diminutive pop star, says she was accused of theft and/or fraud when she attempted to sell a number of items that once belonged to Prince.}}}

According to Friend, she had been "romantically involved" with Prince in 1991 and had received the items as gifts. She claims she retained ownership of the items after the couple "discontinued their relationship" and that Prince had never asked for the items to be returned.

In August last year, Friend had decided to sell the items through the Fine Arts Brokerage Service. She claimed the gifts, including a jacket worn by Prince, a tape cassette, a Christmas card, a comic book and a Prince music video, "no longer had any sentimental value" to her.

However, an attorney for Prince and Paisley Park Enterprises soon contacted Fine Arts, claiming that the items were "acquired by fraud and/or theft" and demanded that the goods be removed from the auction website.

Friend claims that the attorney's letter contained defamatory allegations and says she has lost her ability to sell any items, other than those for which she can prove legal ownership.

The suit, filed in Los Angeles last Friday, also claims that she has suffered both intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress as a result of the defendants' actions.

Both Prince and his Paisley Park Enterprises are named as defendants, reports launch.com."

Prince is being sued for items that once belonged to him if the items weren't stolen they would still belong to Prince's procession. The robber in any case would like to rightfully own something they would have to steal in order to have been caught in the act of obtaining money from these items. A robber cannot sue the victim of the robbery just because the victim claims he was robbed. In my opinion Charlene built a trap up for her self and she understood later after her getting caught up in her trap a how she felt that trapping she weren't any good. If an accusation is made by a victim of a robbery ("Prince") stated that a storeowner informed him and other law officials that his items were brought to them by a woman ("Charlene") who had intentions of getting money out of the stolen items. Charlene is at fault because: (1) She took items away with out the owners consent (2) Then she sold the items that don't belong to her, and (3) Prince should not only receive money in this case he should receive his items back to and then he decides on what he wants to do with his items alone, no one else should receive rights or ownership over Prince's personal belongings but him.

WHAT??? Have you even considered the fact that she claims she was GIVEN these items. If I may quote Purple Rain "So, you gave it to me, it's not yours anymore" In which case she can sell anything SHE owns to anyone she wants.

If these item's were given to her as gifts then once they were in her possesion he gave up all claim of them unless he asked for them back. I hate to say this but it is petty for Prince or Paisley Park to try and stop her from doing as she wishes with these gifts. If a boyfriend gives me a gift and we break up it is then up to me to keep it or not. They lost all say so in the matter when the gift was presented to me. If they want it back fine but if not, don't come up years later when I try to get rid of it and say it was theft. That's just wrong.

Charlene, if the items had NO MORE sentimental value, why not give the stuff away to the auction people for charity purposes. Why is she trying to gain money from something that was suppose to be gifts? Move on with your life! She should be grateful that she was chosen as one of his lovely female friends. You know she must be bitter or she would not sue him over some "gifts" he gave her years ago. Charlene so if you slept with Prince and it's over well what did you expect? He could never take the place of your man . He probably told you the score and that was it.
