Neil Finn outs on long shows where he takes on many of the instruments. He's a one man band just like Prince.

W and L chose 2 do this instead of a Revolution reunion at Celebration 1.

This is a great album well worth having. Any fans of Neils previous work, solo, Crowded House and Split Enz will be quickly able to pick the influence of Wendy & Lisa. Especially on Secret God (although this may only be on One Nil, and not Nil All. (Different track listings for different markets).

this is a great album which repays close listening. i haven't heard the alternate mixes but i was living in auckland during 2000. wendy and lisa were out there working on one last songwriting and jamming session for neil's album. (this session ultimately produced only one new song to make it to the final tracklist- "hole in the ice".)
a friend of mine was also working with neil at the time (everyone knows everyone in nz) and got me the job of writing the press release for neil's album. i got the job after wendy and lisa had already left for LA so i didn't quite get to meet them... but i did get to see them in a small gig with neil. they ran through a few songs from "one nil" but it was a haphazard performance, as the songs were then still quite new and underrehearsed for a live event. you could hardly hear lisa's piano. but no one minded, the friendly atmosphere was all. funny thing was, it was such a small gig- in a wee little bar owned by neil's wife- and yet wendy and lisa, who have played in front of purple rain fan-packed stadiums, were charmingly, genuinely nervous in the auckland setting... here it was definitely neil who was the god. wendy and lisa were invited to do a couple of their own numbers, they did the first song off of "girl bros", and also "mother of pearl" (if i remember rightly). when they came off stage, wendy walked right past me. i was wearing a t-shirt with dr seuss' cat in the hat on it. wendy put out her hand and ran it over the cat's face and said "hey, nice hat!" (rather than "nice cat".) and continued on her way. all the chemicals in my body rushed into my brain at once. i couldn't speak for 45 seconds. my friends (not big prince fans) were laughing with delight for me. it's interesting to know i can still be so star-struck, i thought i'd given that up long ago... i had to interview neil when i wrote the press release for his album. he's a very nice guy, down to earth in that peculiarly new zealish way. he loved working with wendy and lisa, and seemed particulary admiring of wendy's feel as a musician. he told me that when she drums, she really plays just that bit ahead of the beat, so that it always feels like a good time when she's playing. here endeth my fascinating recollections of that time.

Good disc, I picked it up just the other day. Does anyone know what that whole 'remastered and remixed' thing is about on the sticker? I own most of Finns' recordings, and I don't have any of this stuff previously. What am I missing or not understanding?

Neil's album "One All" is a gem. I play it all the time. If you don't already have it buy 2 copies for being so stupid, then go one step further and buy the incredible live DVD "7 Worlds Collide" recorded last year with guests Eddie Vedder, Lisa Germano, Johnny Marr, & members of Radiohead backing him. It has all of the material off the new album & played live is smokin'. He's playing here tommorrow night at The Fillmore (SF) and I'm going twice with a little help from my wayback machine..
