Found this in 'Heat' magazine, June 29th issue. Seems to explain why Prince's voice is not used in the remix.

The 80s revival continues with this hectically funky version of the Prince hit. ‘I Would Die 4 U’ originally appeared on His Purple Highness’ 1984 breakthrough album ‘Purple Rain’. The Space Cowboy- producer Nick Dresti- first recorded a bootleg remix that was a hit with DJs like Norman Cook. But knowing Prince would never authorise a remix, Dresti sought out an old cover version featuring Jin Wilde and now Dresti and Wilde are working on new material. Dontcha just love a happy ending?

The version makes me squirm, it’s sacrilege, disgusting, typical crap re-mix. Why is there so many re-mixes and cover versions? Obviously a lack of original material and raw talent and of course it’s a cheap buck for the wheels of the record companies.

I agree with you Scott, but this single is getting good reviews from a number of publications...Go figure.
