Purple is the New M&M Color I don't know if this is really news, but there was a post on here a couple of months ago urging us to vote for the new M&M color. Well, last night it was revealed that Purple was voted the new color. They are using the slogan "Purple Reign" for their campaign to announce the new color.

Hmm, considering he let Tina Turner fuck up a song 4 Target Stores' commercial...maybe it's not far from the truth.
I 4get which song it was 2! |

Oops, ur thread says nothing about Prince letting the SONG b used 4 the advertisement. My bad.
As 4 the slogan "Purple Reign", hmmm, it could happen. Prince would have no say on it. Would he? |

Here is the link to where I saw the story. I guess the writer of the article is using the slogan - not the company.

He actually didn't let her do anything with the song. Prince cannot stop anyone from covering his songs, aside from calling them and asking them not to(He asked Musiq not to cover 'Adore' if i recall correctly).
She chose to allow the song to be used in Target commercials, not P. | |

That's not necessarily true.
Anyone can cover a published song given the permission from the owner of the publishing. Commercials r a whole 'nother matter. Prince has the right (as in copyright) 2 allow, or not allow any of his material 4 use in a commercial, he just doesn't own the songs outright, he doesn't own the master recording of that song. He and Warner Bros. must agree 2 let the song b used. (The old shit anyway.) If this weren't the case, U'da heard more than (I think it was) "Baby, I'm A Star", on more than one commercial. How 'bout "Little Red Corvette" on a Chevy commercial? It's been well documented that he prefers not 2 b 4 sale...when it comes 2 advertisement. Michael Jackson is another story. He was paid heavily 4 his songs "Bad" and "Billie Jean" 2 b used by Pepsi back in the 80's. He has also (much 2 the disappointment of Paul McCartney) let the Beatle's music b used 4 ads by Nike, and H & R Block and others, cuz he owns half the publishing! Neil Young is another who will not b "sold", remember his video 4 the song "This Note's For You"? Finally, when "Weird" Al Yankovic wanted 2 use Prince's music for a parody (a very lucrative deal), Prince was one of the very few who's turned him down. Even Coolio sold out 2 "Weird" Al! Even though he denies it, he cashed the check! Not 2 flame ( [This message was edited Thu Jun 20 15:05:10 PDT 2002 by June7] |

i think they just may make a prince character out of the new purple M&M. I once saw an ad in a magazine where they made the rapper Eminem out of a yellow M&M. it was pretty funny. If I Could B Muse 2 the Pharaoh...
