BROWNMARK – FORMER BASSIST FOR PRINCE – LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE
CRYPTICMUSIC.COM WILL OFFER DIRECT ACCESS TO ARTIST, MUSIC AND INFORMATION

(Minneapolis, MN) – BrownMark, former bass player for Prince and the Revolution, today announced that on June 21st 2002 he will launch his new website at http://www.crypticmusic.com. The website will offer BrownMark’s biography, information about his new band Cryptic, a list of upcoming public appearances, concert dates, and more. BrownMark’s new solo album "It’s Been A While" - which is slated for release in August - will also be made available on the website.}}}

A music industry veteran, BrownMark’s career has spanned over two decades. He has shared the stage with a stunning line-up of top-flight musicians: Prince, Stevie Wonder, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Sting, Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, and Salt ‘n’ Pepa, to name just a few.

BrownMark made his professional debut in 1981, on Prince’s "Controversy" tour. For seven and a half years, he honed his skills as a bassist for Prince and the Revolution and became well known for his funky bass playing. Prince was quoted in a Rolling Stone article that "without BrownMark on bass," he would "take the bass out of the music." BrownMark received two Grammy Awards and two American Music Awards for his contributions to the "Purple Rain" soundtrack.

In 1988, BrownMark landed a recording contract with Motown. He debuted his solo album "Just Like That" on Motown in the late 80s with the single "Next Time." His second CD release on Motown was titled "Bang Bang."

BrownMark has also formed his own independent record company called Cryptic Music Group. Recognizing what he refers to as a "paradigm shift" in the music industry, this unique entrepreneur has joined forces with a dynamic group of business minds. Together, they are working to provide opportunities for the "independent spirit" to make a mark in the once close-knit record industry. With the Internet and countless distribution alternatives knocking at his door, BrownMark feels its time to start having fun!

I'm surprised Prince hasn't invited Brownmark back in his band, since they're both JWs

His 2nd cd was not called Bang Bang, but "Good Feeling". "Bang Bang" was the song with Prince on backing vox. He also wrote Shall We Dance for that album.
