More description of Rave packaging Well, friends, I have it. I'm perhaps amongst the few lucky Joes on the streets to have acquired the yet-to-be-released release and let me tell you... it's him. It's clear that he's feeling good about where he is and who he's working with. It's funky, it's produced, it has guests. The package is nice, the pictures are slick, it has multimedia links to both the L41A and 1800newfunk sites. It has at least two hidden tracks: 17) a commercial for his web sites spoken in an almost Bob George voice; 18) Pretty Man (enough said). The liner notes are in poster form which I find a little irritating but that's not a complaint because the CD is great. It's also available on vinyl for all you freaks (like me!). I don't have the vinyl yet so I don't know if it's all there from the CD or if they added or left tracks off... a surprise, perhaps? I've only heard it about six times so I don't have a favorite track yet but "Pretty Man" stands out because it's Time-funky. Run, don't walk, to the store to get it! If anybody has word on the limited edition, please post to describe the difference. He's all there, friends and neighbors, and for anyone lucky enough to have seen him perform live recently y'all know what I'm saying. Is this "The Dawn"?
P.S. - I should have mentioned the glaring lack of "Beautiful Strange". The video leads me to think that it may be one of the finest songs he's recorded in a decade but it's not included. Anyone know why? | |
