WOW



The show last night at Paisley was his most expressive, funky, completely O{+>, *guitar-driven* effort in some time. He was wearing all purple with the Graffiti-Bridge style long dark hair. From the new album, Greatest Romance, Every Day is a Winding Road, and Baby Knows were all played live. And in case y'all didn't know, "Baby Knows" might be great on a recording... but it is truly a classsic live tune Also, he really got into The Greatest Romance Ever Sold... to the point where I hope they release that live as the video. It'd be so successful... he was in rare form. They were doing some major filming and O{+> and the band were most definitely playing for the cameras. It was a very impressive set-up (lighting, everything was spotless, etc.) The entire show featured O{+> mainly on guitar and it was amazing. A couple of highlights were a song called "Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone" sung with the background music of "The War" and a rousing version of Purple Haze to close the first set. In fact, the general tone of a lot of the music tended to be blues oriented, "my girl is gone... what am I going to do?" This might shed some light into the whole Mayte situation, but I'm not one to speculate, as long as they're both Happy! The second set opened with a funky short version of Let's Go Crazy and was a greatest hits rundown that included U Got the Look, a rare solo performance of Gett Off, Kiss, etc. The tone of this show was almost indescribable--he was in a great mood. I almost forgot, Michael B., Dave Jensen, and Kathy Jensen of the Hornheadz were all there and flawless. Ms. Jensen laid some funky saxophone solos that might make us forget about Eric Leeds. The show ended with a big medley of people dancing onstage, with Johnny Blackshire and another singer being brought up to the lead the "Come and Dance With Me" portion of the show. Release Yourself was also played, but this was probably the only part of the show that was a little self-indulgent and lost some of the audience. Otherwise, if I could pick one thing to stand out from this show, his improvisational guitar was AMAZING!!! I mean, we might be talking about this one for years to come... I have to own a recording of this
