prince.org mentioned in federal court opinion

As a followup to the earlier item about a judge quoting Prince songs in his decision, I tracked down the opinion and read it. The judge mentioned prince.org in one of the footnotes:

"[Prince's] popularity is evidenced by various publications and fan clubs devoted to him. Once such magazine is Uptown, an 'independent and uncensored magazine exploring the world of the Artist formerly known as Prince.' http://www.uptown.se/99/uptown/html [sic]. Another is prince.org, an unauthorized, unofficial, independent fansite that includes, among other things, the latest news about [Prince], events, and links to other fan associations around the world. See http://www.prince.org./main/html [sic]."

[Unfortunately, he got both URLs wrong, and it's too late to submit a correction for the final hardbound volume.]

Another interesting comment not previously mentioned was:

"[Prince's] fans were perhaps not surprised by [his] eventual adoption of this symbol, with its prototype combining the male and female signs, For example, the then-Prince wrote in his 1984 "I Would Die 4 U": "I'm not a woman. I'm not a man. I am something that you'll never understand."

Also of note is a picture of Pickett's symbol guitar, which is similar to (but noticially different from) the symbol guitar that Prince started using.

If you're interested in reading the full opinion, the citation for the decision is:

Pickett v. Prince, 52 F.Supp. 2d 893 (N.D. Ill. 1999).
