"1999" cover available for free download I stumbled across http://www.ralphamerica.com/hme.html
where I found a free cover of "1999" in MP3. It's a pretty eerie and spooky version, so keep in mind that I warned ya! This is 1 4 the real freax that want to have EVERYTHING! Just tought 2 tell ya... jon copeland (jon_copeland@bitstream.mpls.mn.us) adds: Here is what they have to say about it: When The Residents first had the idea of covering The Artist formerly known as Prince's 1999, it was associated with the idea of releasing the first single of the new millennium that could be legitimately classified as a nostalgic look back to the "good-old-days" of yester-millennium. They pretty much lost interest in the idea. Sometime the idea itself is sufficient without actually doing it. So we and you benefit now as The Residents toss this recording to the internet airways... just in case anyone has actually been able to buy into the idea that it really makes any difference what number is assigned to a year, decade, century, or millennium. 1999. 2000. Another idea that would have been sufficient to think of and not do. Many of you might not like it and think it is too weird. I LOVE it however! I am a huge Residents fan and in fact, second to Prince, the Residents are the most collected artists in my huge collection! Also, on the first page (after you get past the spinning opening logo) is a picture of a Residents eyeball as Prince. You gotta see it! | |
