[The main point seems to be that Prince has never encouraged the use of "The Artist": Quote: "It transpired out of the media's frustration or outright refusal 2 respect 's choice 2 b referred 2 by an unpronouncable symbol."



More likely it "transpired out" of Paisley Park's own confusion. Check out the following two OFFICIAL press releases where Prince is repeatedly referred to as "The Artist".
