Paisley party "jazz jam" report

I attended the Paisley Park "Jazz Jam" Friday night/Sat. Morning. It turned out to be a pretty cool affair. Doors opnened about 1:15.. Cover charge was 7 bucks..The place was packed. The band consisted of Mr. Hayes, Kirk Johnson, Larry Graham, prince and a guest trumpet player and a guest conga player. Both the trumpet player and Conga player, named Estelle, play in the Twin city Jammers at a local club called Bunkers. They really jammed on everything they played. One big surprise was opening the show with "Make Your Momma Happy." The live version is much better then the studio. prince walked on stage and passed out Watch Tower brochures to people standing in the front. prince was dressed in all black and had a beard similar to the Graffitti Bridge days. The show was very funky, and the addition of the trumpet and congas added so much to the sound.

Set List, (that I can remember)

Make Your Momma Happy

Sing a Simple Song

Love4OneAnother (GCS2000)

Who Knows (Jimi Hendrix)

Improvisational Jam (prince on guitar)

Thank you for lettin me b mice elf again

The Ballad of Dorthy Parker

Mad Sex

The War/Living for the City (Stevie Wonder)

Groove On (GCS2000)
