(5/21/02, 1 p.m. ET) -- There's a new Prince album out--but you can't get it in stores, and you can't even buy it online. One Night Alone is a new CD of exclusive performances that has been mailed to members of Prince's New Power Generation Music Club.}}}

The acoustic disc--which features Prince playing piano without a band--includes a number of songs that fans heard the artist perform on his recent One Night Alone tour of small venues across America. The collection is mostly demo tracks that fans have been able to download individually from the website at various times during the past year. Highlights include a shortened version of Joni Mitchell's "A Case Of You;" and fan favorite "Pearls B4 The Swine," which has been widely circulated in different versions on the Internet.

This is the first-ever disc for New Power Generation Music Club members, but most members aren't complaining about the tracks not being all new--Prince has promised club members at least three more new albums by the end of the year, all for the price of their $100 membership. The membership fee also includes opportunities to buy concert tickets before the general public, and to attend soundchecks and after-parties for any show bought presale. The full tracklisting of the 35-minute album includes: "One Nite Alone," "U're Gonna C Me," "Here On Earth," "A Case Of U," "Have A Heart," "Objects In The Mirror," "Avalanche," "Pearls B4 The Swine," "Young And Beautiful," and "Arboretum (instrumental)."

I agree w/ the rest of ya'll who were unhappy w/this cd.
Why give us the same songs that we received already and put onto our own compilations.....*sigh* And here I was excited to receive the first installment of NPGMC cd's.
Oh well.....

Shorty - no bashin' taken'. I'm not dis-regarding those songs. I'm just not taken aback by them. Have A Heart is ok. Avalanche though? Some songs need to be kept in the vault. I would have much rather had a longer version of "a case of u" than any of the other songs. I just think that if he's expecting us to support him in his methodology of music distribution,than he should provide us with music that we did not already have (ONA, Ure gonna c me etc..). Then the cd would have been worthwhile (though possibly still not as enjoyable). I dunno though.....

I'm glad that others find enjoyment from the cd though. ;o)

hey everyone.

i am here in l.a. and still have yet to receive ONA. has anyone in the west received their copy yet? just got back from vacation and was really looking forward to it being here when i returned, but no such luck.

hmmm only five songs wasn't released last year, the best of the new ones is Avalanche. I could live without the rest.

I dunno guys...keep listening to it...I'm really liking Young and beautiful, and avalanche...the words to avalanche aren't light but...that's ok with me. oh and have a heart is good too. IMO ofcourse. well, I'm sorry you guys aren't getting out of it what I'm getting out of it...sux to be you I guess! LOL just kiddin' enjoy it for what it is I guess...
