Report on Miami afterparty 10.10.99 a.m. Miami, FL, Fontainebleau Hilton Hotel, Ballroom C+D Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic listening party / Billboard after-show cocktail party, hosted by Clive Davis. Tracks played over the PA (in this order): [pre:0deadbeef0] Undisputed (w/Chuck D) [?] Hot With U (w/Eve) [5:10] So Far So Pleased (w/Gwen Stefani) [5:00] The Sun, The Moon And Stars [5:10] Everyday Is A Winding Road (w/Larry Graham) [6:10] Man Of War [5:10] Baby Knows (w/Sheryl Crow) [3:20] I Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore (w/Ani DiFranco) [3:30] Silly Game [3:30] Strange But True [4:00] Where Ever U Do, Where Ever U Go [3:20] Pretty Man (w/Maceo Parker) [4:20] Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic [4:10] [/pre:0deadbeef0] After every 2-3 songs they played The Greatest Romance Ever Sold again. Some of the songs were played a second time later in the night. Contrary to the NYC listening party, Silly Game and Strange But True were played - however, Tangerine and the second hidden track were not. I don't know what was played before Undisputed - furthermore I don't know the lenght of the latter as I missed the beginning. I have added the approximate timings of the tracks; note that they're rounded up to 10"-bits. Interesting that the longest track so far is a hidden one! Very short personal commentary: [pre:0deadbeef0] Undisputed: very funky, cool. Hot With U: catchy beat, very funky, one of my favourite tracks. So Far So Pleased: pop-rock; unimpressed. Everyday Is A Winding Road: same as the Minneapolis, Mill City Music Festival performance - incl. Larry's annoying "audience participation shouts". Baby Knows: somewhat similar to "Sarah". Strange But True: cool track, mix of "The Continental" and "All The Critics Love U In New York". Where Ever U Do, Where Ever U Go: average pop effort. [/pre:0deadbeef0] | |
